Creating empowered leaders
Leadership can be lonely, especially when you feel disconnected or misunderstood from your peers. A lot of leaders in the research, design and product space experience this.
Sometimes it’s a language thing. Sometimes it’s an experience thing. Sometimes it’s representative of the dividing line between craft and business. Whatever the reason, it’s good to have someone who’s been there, who talks to a lot of leaders like you–and has been you–to work things through.
I am not a coach. I don’t have the training of a coach. I am an experienced leader who has worked across many companies and engaged with many leaders over a nearly 30 year career working in digital research, design and product.
It’s important to know that you are not alone. I can work with you to provide a tailored engagement, act as an advisor, help you in thinking through your engagement with the c-suite, or act as a professional “sparring partner,” someone for you to bounce ideas off.
Things I do include:
- 1:1 or group advising sessions
- Thought partnership – “leadership sparring”
- “Augmented” design leadership support
- C-suite and board-level advising
- NED engagement
Client testimonials
“In the Board, Brian showed real management and programme expertise; his common-sense approach and deep experience were crucial to DPL. I would recommend him without hesitation.”
“How many people can juggle board level business strategy and operations, detailed UX and digital delivery, practitioner level UX/service design expertise and look after his team and having hard conversations well? I’ve met one. Brian.”
“Brian’s experience is second to none. I’m hard pushed to think of anyone with more knowledge, exposure and understanding in digital. Couple that with his passion for innovation, talent for kicking off new projects (and possibly the best networking skills around) and you get the picture of a professional few can match.”
“Brian is one of the top 3-4 product guys in London. He really knows his stuff. I have known him for 6 years and he always seems to impress me with his depth of understanding. Brian has worked with the biggest corporations and yet still seems to be able to manage switching gears to a startup environment.”
“If you like engaging, witty, intelligent and experienced people then stand next to Brian. In an increasingly bland world of digital yawnsome agency types Brian is his own man with the skill and tenacity to impress everyone he meets.”
